As lakhs of devotees head to Mahakumbh 2025, the Railway Ministry’s assurances of smooth travel arrangements seem to be falling apart, claims AAP leader Raghav Chadha. Taking to social media, Chadha alleged that pilgrims are facing severe difficulties, exposing the government’s failure in managing transportation for the mega religious event.

On February 11, Chadha had raised concerns in Parliament regarding the inadequate preparations for railway services to Mahakumbh. Days later, the government shut down Prayagraj Sangam railway station, acknowledging the logistical shortcomings, he claimed.

Devotees Struggle Amid Railway Disruptions

Mahakumbh, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, draws millions of pilgrims from across India. The Railway Ministry had earlier assured seamless transportation, but several devotees have reported delays, overcrowding, and last-minute cancellations of trains heading to Prayagraj.

With Prayagraj Sangam station now closed, travelers are forced to seek alternative routes, causing significant inconvenience. Many have taken to social media to share their struggles, highlighting the lack of special trains and poor crowd management.

Political Reactions and Public Outrage

Chadha’s statement has sparked political debate, with opposition parties slamming the government’s unfulfilled promises. Meanwhile, railway officials maintain that the closure of Prayagraj Sangam station was a planned decision to manage crowd flow more effectively.

However, the ground reality tells a different story, as Mahakumbh-bound passengers continue to struggle with poor transport arrangements. With the event set to witness an even larger influx of pilgrims, all eyes are now on the Railway Ministry’s next course of action to prevent further chaos.
