To accommodate the massive influx of devotees attending Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, Indian Railways has announced the launch of a special Vande Bharat train between New Delhi and Varanasi via Prayagraj. This marks the first time a special Vande Bharat Express has been introduced exclusively for the Maha Kumbh. The train service will begin operations from February 15 to 17, ensuring smooth travel for pilgrims.
Train Schedule and Route Details
According to official updates, the special Vande Bharat train will operate on February 15, 16, and 17 from both New Delhi and Varanasi.

Departure from New Delhi: 5:30 AM
Stops at Ghaziabad, Chipiyana Buzurg, Kanpur Central
Arrival at Prayagraj Junction: 12:00 Noon (5-minute stoppage)
Arrival at Varanasi: 2:40 PM
🔹 Return Journey from Varanasi to New Delhi
Departure from Varanasi: 3:15 PM
Arrival at Prayagraj Junction: 5:20 PM

Unprecedented Maha Kumbh Footfall
The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 has already witnessed record-breaking participation, with over 50 crore devotees taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam. The event, which began on January 13, will continue till February 26, attracting pilgrims from across the world.
On Friday alone, over 92 lakh devotees performed the sacred snan, pushing the total Maha Kumbh footfall past 50 crore. The Uttar Pradesh government has termed this as the "largest congregation" in human history for any religious or cultural gathering.
