Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath extended his warm greetings to the people of the state on Raksha Bandhan, describing the festival as a sacred celebration of affection, trust, responsibility and commitment.

In his message, CM Yogi Adityanath said Raksha Bandhan is not merely about tying a protective thread on a brother’s wrist but also about strengthening family bonds, fostering social harmony and reaffirming the collective responsibility towards the respect, safety and dignity of women and girls.

The Chief Minister highlighted various initiatives of the Uttar Pradesh government aimed at women’s safety, welfare and empowerment. He said that over the past nine-and-a-half years, the government has accorded priority to the security, dignity and self-reliance of women.
He also highlighted programmes including Mission Shakti, Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana and the Nirashrit Mahila Pension Yojana, describing them as important measures for women’s safety, education, social security and empowerment.
CM Yogi further said that women will once again receive free bus travel from August 27 to 29 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, a facility that has been provided since 2017 to make travel more convenient and safer for mothers and sisters.
The Chief Minister also urged people to tie rakhi to members of the security forces, police personnel and disaster-relief teams as a gesture of gratitude and affection.
Emphasising the importance of supporting local artisans and businesses, he appealed to people to give preference to locally made rakhis and gifts. According to the Chief Minister, such support would encourage local skills, labour and entrepreneurship while contributing to the vision of a self-reliant and developed Uttar Pradesh.
