Rampur News: In a strange Khap-like verdict, a Naglia Aqil Village Panchayat has delivered a verdict that left everyone amused. Instead of a property or land division, the panchayat this time divided a breathing and living husband.
In an accident that sounds right out of the Bollywood scriptwriter’s creative mind, the village panchayat in Rampur under the Azim Nagar police station area gave two wives of a Muslim each 3 days each and kept Sunday as an off. The man would be at his free will to spend the day with anyone on Sunday.

Interestingly, one of the marriages was a love match while another was arranged. Both wives of the Muslim man used to exercise their complete rights over him and were reluctant to back down. This turned the man’s life and household into a daily ring of chaos.
As tempers rose, both of the man’s wives marched into the Azim Nagar Police Station, each demanding his custody. The police decided the matter could be solved with the help of the village panchayat.
The panchayat members announced a formula wherein the man would stay with his first wife on the first three days of the week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and with the second one on the next three (Thursday, Friday and Saturday), while Sunday was declared as his “freedom day”. The agreement was put on paper and signed by the man and his wives.

In Purnia district of Bihar in February 2025, a similar case happened between one husband and his two wives where both insisted that their man should only live with them. Community elders worked out a similar formula of 3-3-1 wherein he had to spend the first three days of the week with the first wife and the second three days of the week with the second week.
