Republic Day 2026 Honours: Uttar Pradesh Police under CM Yogi Adityanath has been bringing laurels for the country and the year 2026 would be no exception.
UP Police would get 90 police medals, including 68 medals for meritorious service, 18 President’s Medals for gallantry and 4 President’s medals for distinguished services.

Senior police officials of the Uttar Pradesh Police have remarked that these medals announced on the Republic Day 2026 eve reflect the sustained crackdown by it on organized crime, exemplary policing and successful high-risk encounters.

One of the most prominent gallantry citations pertains to the Achalganj encounter in Unnao where STF team went on to successfully neutralize top history-sheeter Anuj Pratap. Sub-Inspector Saurabh Mishra, STF Inspector Santosh Kumar and Head Constable Kavindra would receive the President’s Medal for Gallantry. UP STF Varanasi unit received another gallantry honour for neutralizing Manish Singh alias Sonu in Varanasi.
Gangsters Vikas Dubey, Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf Ahmed were some of the other big names that were eliminated during CM Yogi Adityanath’s time.
National Crime Records Bureau Data
National Crime Records Bureau, which is the official agency of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has revealed that the overall crime rate in the state of Uttar Pradesh fell down to 25 percent, with no communal riots and crimes against girls and women down 25-30 percent.
Previously, Uttar Pradesh under regimes of Samajwadi Party used to top NCRB charts with more than 9.5 percent of the total IPC crimes of India, earning the top position among states with high violent crimes.
According to the latest NCRB metrics on per capita crime rates and safety indices, Uttar Pradesh now features among the top 5 safest large states by 2023-2025. By late 2025, there have been more than 16,000 encounters that have resulted in the neutralization of 266 high-profile criminals and the arrest of 2.3 lakh criminals.
