Retired IPS dies after fire engulfs his house

A fire broke out in the house of retired IPS officer DC Pandey in Sector 18 of Indiranagar at around 10.15 pm on Saturday night. DC Pandey, his wife Aruna Pandey and Divyang son Shashank Pandey were trapped in the house due to the fire.

The fire brigade and police team reached the information and took out the family. DC Pandey was taken to Lohia Institute, where he died during treatment while wife and son were referred from Lohia Institute to Trauma Center.

According to Inspector-in-Charge Ghazipur Manoj Kumar Mishra, the fire broke out in the room next to the first floor due to a short circuit in the AC. The family was in the back rooms of the first floor. The way to live is from the front room. The family could not get out as there was a fire on the way out.

Aruna Pandey tried to give voice to the tenants but failed. After this, he called his nephew Akshat and informed about the incident. On the information of Akshat, fire brigade and local police reached the spot and took everyone out.
