Russian troupe presents Ramlila performance in Ayodhya

On Saturday, Ramlila was performed in dance ballet style in Ayodhya as part of the continuing Deepotsav celebrations by about 120 performers from eight different nations.

Disha: India-Russia Friendship Society of Moscow, the Padma Shri Gennady Mikhailovich Pechnikov Memorial Ramlila, headed the event. The performance by the 12-person Russian ensemble captivated the audience.

Producer and director Rameshwar Singh claimed that the Yogi Adityanath administration has given him a platform in India to show Russian Ramlila. From November 4 to 6, 2018, amid the Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya, Russian artists performed Ramlila in India for the first time.

They also performed Prayagraj’s 2019 Kumbh. Lord Ram is portrayed by Ildar Khusnullin, and Sita by Milana Bychonek.

Nadezda Singh plays Kaushalya, Rati Kosinova plays Sumitra, Gulnara Isakova plays Kaikeyi, Alexei Fleyjanikav plays Lakshman, and Vaychislav Chernyash plays Ravan.

Danish Shevtsov is playing the character of King Dashrath, Artem Zubkov of Sugreev, and Kushnerova of Lord Hanuman.

Since Deepotsav in 2017, foreign performers have staged Ramlila every year. At various locations in Ayodhya, Ramlila is being performed by artists from Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Thailand, Russia, Fiji, Trinidad and Tobago, and Nepal.
