Kannauj Railway Station: On January 11, 2025, an under-construction roof at Kannauj railway station in Uttar Pradesh collapsed, leading to a significant rescue operation. The incident occurred around 2:39 PM during beautification work when the shuttering failed, causing the roof slab to give way.

Approximately 30 to 35 workers were present at the site during the collapse. Rescue teams have successfully extricated 23 individuals from the debris, with several others still feared trapped. Among the rescued, two workers sustained critical injuries and have been transported to the district hospital for urgent medical attention. 

The Inspector General of Kanpur Range, Jogendra Kumar, confirmed that all rescued laborers are currently safe 

Uttar Pradesh Minister Asim Arun, who was present at the scene, emphasized the immediate priority of rescuing those trapped under the debris. He stated, "Our foremost responsibility is to rescue all those who could be under the debris. We are making all-out efforts to clear the debris." Minister Arun also mentioned that an investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the accident. 

The Inspector General of Kanpur Range, Jogendra Kumar, confirmed that all rescued laborers are currently safe and receiving treatment. He noted, "No deaths as yet." 

In response to the incident, Uttar Pradesh Minister Rajni Tiwari announced that an inquiry would be held to ascertain the factors leading to the collapse. She reported that 24 people have been injured in the lintel collapse and assured that those responsible would face appropriate action. 

Rescue operations are ongoing, with teams working diligently to locate and assist any remaining individuals trapped beneath the rubble. Authorities have pledged a thorough investigation to prevent such incidents in the future and to ensure the safety of construction workers at similar sites.
