The Uttar Pradesh government, under CM Yogi Adityanath, is set to roll out a major welfare and development initiative in Lakhimpur Kheri on April 11, 2026.
The programme aims to ensure that benefits of development reach the last mile, especially targeting vulnerable and marginalized communities.
CM Yogi Adityanath: Land rights to thousands of affected families
As part of the initiative, land ownership certificates will be distributed to 2,350 families affected by river erosion in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, 4,356 families from the Tharu tribal community will also receive land rights.
Officials stated that the move will provide security and stability to these families. It is expected to improve their socio-economic conditions.
₹817 crore development projects to be launched
The government will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 314 development projects worth over ₹817 crore in areas such as Palia, Srinagar, Nighasan, and Gola.
These projects aim to strengthen infrastructure and improve basic amenities. Authorities believe they will enhance living standards in the region.
Support for displaced families from Bangladesh
In a separate programme, land rights will also be granted to 311 displaced Hindu families from Bangladesh in Lakhimpur Kheri. Alongside this, projects worth over ₹417 crore will be launched across Lakhimpur, Dhaurahra, and Mohammadi areas.
Officials highlighted that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to rehabilitation and inclusion.
Distribution of houses under rural housing scheme
Beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Rural Housing Scheme will receive keys to their homes during the event. The scheme aims to provide safe and permanent housing to eligible families.
The government has emphasized housing as a key pillar of social welfare. Providing shelter is seen as essential for dignity and security.
Large-scale housing and welfare efforts
According to official data, more than 62 lakh houses have been allocated under various schemes, including central and state housing initiatives. Land freed from illegal capture has also been utilized for housing projects.
Additionally, 2,209 fishermen families are being provided secure housing. Efforts are also underway to provide free housing to sanitation workers.
