The government of Uttar Pradesh has started a big, multi-layered plan to make sure that on July 6, 2025, a Sunday, Muharram is a peaceful holiday.  As a way to keep the streets safe, the peace, and the people under control during the Tazia processions in big cities, this holiday has been made a public holiday.

A lot of police officers are being sent out

This is the Lucknow Police Commissionerate. They have more than 3,700 police officers.  18 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), 54 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), and 654 women staff work for the police force.  A "box formation" plan will be used to strategically put officers along important routes, and special teams will be given areas with a lot of people.

Drones and CCTV cameras for watching

Drones will fly over cities like Lucknow and Varanasi and keep an eye on them. Thousands of CCTV cameras will also be set up along parade routes and in other sensitive areas.  Teams with sniffer dogs and squads that take out bombs will also be sent to the places to keep them safe.

Take Action to Stop an Intelligence Alert

More than 900 people in the Sambhal area alone have been warned by the state police.  They have to put up security bonds of ₹1–5 lakh to promise not to do anything that could be seen as annoying.  There won't be any new Tazia routes or traditions, and people shouldn't show off their weapons in public.

Manage the noise and keep an eye on social media

People who keep an eye on computers will search social media for fake news or material that is meant to make people angry.  People who break the law will have to deal with strong punishments.  To keep things safe and holy, DJs can't play loud music and Tazia carts can't be too high.

Traffic, keeping women safe, and getting people to work together

With the barriers up, the roads will stay clear for traffic.  Police women in plain clothes will walk around key places to keep women safe.  The district government has accepted volunteers from the area who will help keep the crowd under control.

Health, cleanliness, and being ready for situations

Rescue boats, medical units, and portable toilets have been set up at ghats and near important places for the journey.  There will always be teams ready to help in a disaster.

The Case for the Administration

To make sure that everyone can work together, the government is very close to peace groups and faith leaders.  During Muharram, the government wants everyone to be polite and help the cops.

Last Thought

Uttar Pradesh plans to celebrate Muharram 2025 with a mix of technology, local coordination, and strict regulation.  This year, the government wants the celebration to be respectful and peaceful. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and DGP Rajeev Krishna are in charge of making this happen.
