There is good news for 16,000 employees of Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation. The state government has decided to give 28 per cent of their basic salary as dearness allowance to these employees. According to reports, the high-powered committee constituted under the chairman of the Department of Public Enterprises on Wednesday approved the recommendation to increase the dearness allowance by 11 percent.
The increase in dearness allowance will be applicable from January 2023.
This increase in dearness allowance will be applicable from January 2023. This increased dearness allowance will be given to the officers and employees of the Transport Department in their upcoming salary.
Roadways Employees Joint Council General Secretary Girish Chandra Mishra said that till now the employees were getting 17 per cent dearness allowance. He told, 'The council had recommended to give 38 per cent dearness allowance to the employees. Now the committee has approved the proposal to increase dearness allowance by 11 per cent.''
Roadways Employees Union happy with the increase
Welcoming the government's announcement, UP Roadways Employees Union President Rakesh Singh said that he had met State Transport Minister Daya Shankar Singh regarding several demands. One of these demands was regarding increasing the dearness allowance. Singh said that the Sangh is happy that their demand for increase in dearness allowance has been accepted. After this increase, roadways employees will get dearness allowance of Rs 8,000. Earlier, he was getting Rs 2,500 as dearness allowance.
State government employees get 38% dearness allowance
Roadways employees were getting 10 percent less dearness allowance than the state employees. State government employees get 38 percent dearness allowance. Girish Mishra, general secretary of the UP Roadways Employees Joint Council, said that 11 percent dearness allowance was to be received from July 2021 but it has been approved to be given from January 2023.
