UP News: UPSRTC Implements Safety Measures for Buses During Smog and Reduced Visibility

In response to the challenges posed by smog and reduced visibility, the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has issued crucial directives to ensure the safety of bus operations. These measures aim to enhance the safety of commuters and drivers, particularly during conditions of reduced visibility.

Retro-Reflective Tape Compliance

UPSRTC has mandated the installation of retro-reflective tape on buses in accordance with prescribed regulations. The use of retro-reflective tape enhances the visibility of vehicles and contributes to safer travel, especially during conditions of limited visibility.

Regional Transport Offices have been instructed to assess the presence and adequacy of retro-reflective tape on vehicles during the fitness certification process. This measure ensures that all buses on the road comply with the safety standards established by UPSRTC.

Road Safety Committee Oversight

To further address the issue of reduced visibility due to smog, district road safety committees will oversee the maintenance of clear and visible white lines painted along roads and highways. These lines serve as a crucial guide for drivers during times of limited visibility.

In an effort to prevent accidents during reduced visibility, tractor-trolley drivers have been advised not to park their vehicles along highways. Such practices can contribute to road hazards, and drivers are encouraged to exercise caution during these conditions.

UPSRTC also emphasizes the importance of adhering to speed restrictions during periods of reduced visibility. By implementing these restrictions, the organization aims to enhance the safety of passengers and reduce the likelihood of accidents during smoggy conditions.
