On Friday, a Varanasi court allowed the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to survey the grounds of the Gyanvapi mosque. However, the court ordered that the wuzukhana (place of ablution), where the Shivalinga-like structure was discovered, be excluded from the scope of the inspection.
The court was considering a petition from the Hindu side asking it to order the Archaeological analysis of India (ASI) to conduct a scientific analysis of the entire Gyanvapi mosque grounds. On July 14, the court concluded its consideration of the arguments.
Vishnu Shankar Jain, who is the case’s Hindu party’s representative said, “I have been informed that my application has been approved and the court has directed to conduct an ASI survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex, excluding the Wazu tank which has been sealed.”
The Hindu party was also represented by advocate Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi, who declared, “Our application for the ASI survey has been accepted. It’s a crucial development in the case.
The Allahabad High Court will be contacted by the Gyanvapi mosque committee next week, according to their statement of disagreement with the ruling. “The district court’s ruling is in no way appropriate. Our points are being disregarded. The plea would be sent to the Allahabad High Court the following week, according to Maulana Yasin, joint secretary of the mosque committee.
