CM Yogi Adityanath: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched a new chapter in the state’s defence industry. Manufacturing of BrahMos missiles and AK-203 firearms has already begun in the state, making it a major hub in the strategic defence industry, aiding India in becoming more self-reliant and ultimately safer.
Production of BrahMos Missiles
The state government has, along with DRDO and BrahMos Aerospace, managed and overseen the BrahMos missile initiative. The manufacturing and assembly of these supersonic cruise missiles, which are incredibly accurate and fast, will now take place in Uttar Pradesh. This move enhances India’s indigenous missile capacity while also creating jobs and technology sharing in the nation.
Production of the AK-203 Rifle
In addition to this, the state of Uttar Pradesh has also begun producing AK-203 firearms, which are heavily used by the Indian military. This will aid in decreasing import dependency, increasing domestic military goods manufacture, and ensuring that weapons are available for national security purposes. Experts believe that the initiative aligns with the greater “Make in India” defence strategy of the government.
Help for the local economy and skill building
Establishing defence production facilities in Uttar Pradesh will generate a large number of both direct and indirect jobs. The government will be introducing technical training programs to prepare youth from the region with the necessary expertise in advanced defence production. CM Yogi stressed that this move is beneficial for defence, but it is also focused on enhancing manufacturing in the state and aiding in the economic growth of the region.
