Abhishek Cholachagudda, a student of Basaveshwar English Medium School, scored only 200 out of 625 marks, failing in all six subjects of the Karnataka SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) exams. Instead of reprimanding him, his parents organized a small celebration at home, complete with a cake bearing the number "32%"—his overall score. Family members, including his sister and grandmother, participated in the event, feeding him cake and offering words of encouragement.
Abhishek's father, Yallappa Cholachagudda, a photographer by profession, stated, "We wanted to show him that failure is not the end. He worked hard, and that's worth appreciating."
Moved by his family's support, Abhishek expressed determination to succeed in his next attempt, saying, "Even though I failed, my family encouraged me. I will again write the exam, pass, and succeed in life."
The family's unconventional response has garnered widespread praise on social media, with many lauding their focus on emotional well-being over academic pressure. Educators and mental health advocates have highlighted the importance of such supportive parenting in mitigating the adverse effects of exam-related stress on students.
This story serves as a poignant reminder that empathy and encouragement can transform failure into a stepping stone for future success.
