Viral Video: An Indian Army Agniveer and six others were arrested for a stunning jewelry store robbery in Bhopal. Jewels and cash worth more than ₹50 lakh were stolen away. The police said that the incident happened on August 13 and involved breaking into the shop and holding an employee at gunpoint, according to India Today.
Agniveer Plotted Robbery to Repay Brother-in-Law’s Home Loan
The main accused, Mohit Singh Baghel, an Agniveer posted in Pathankot, Punjab, was on leave and had come to Bhopal to meet his brother-in-law. Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra said that Baghel had hatched the plan of robbery for repaying the home loan availed by his brother-in-law and to spend the remaining money in self-indulgence. video has been posted on X (Formally Twitter) by Voice of Bharat.
The two robbers who executed this crime were Baghel and his associate, Akash Rai. Both of them were wearing helmets to conceal their identities in the CCTV footage while threatening the shop employee, and Baghel was shown brandishing a pistol, demanding that he hand over all the valuables from his store.
Bhopal Police Leverage Extensive CCTV Network to Track Down Robbers
The Bhopal police worked tirelessly following up on the crime by scanning as many as 400 CCTV cameras in the 20-kilometer radius from the scene of the crime. It was this footage that finally led to Baghel’s identification. With a view to encouraging public help in these matters, a reward of ₹50,000 was announced for information regarding the arrest of the culprits.
Apart from Baghel and Rai, five others were arrested for involvement in the crime. It also includes Vikas Rai, Akash Rai’s brother; Monika Rai, Akash– sister; Amit Rai, his brother-in-law; Gayatri Rai, Akash– mother; and Abhay Mishra, friend of Akash Rai. The group reportedly hatched a conspiracy amongst themselves, with Abhay Mishra providing the pistol used in the robbery.
The police have asked for information about Baghel from the Indian Army for further verification and investigation of the crime, which was quite intense in nature, and everybody has to be brought to justice in the due process of law.
