Visakhapatnam News: The incident occurred on Thursday morning when Pranay Tej, a UKG student, was reportedly reprimanded by his teacher for not completing his homework. According to the family, the child had recently returned from a pilgrimage to Tirupati and could not finish his assignments in time. CCTV footage from the classroom, which later surfaced on social media, allegedly shows the teacher pulling the boy closer, scolding him, and slapping him on the cheek. Within seconds, the child is seen collapsing.

School staff reportedly attempted CPR before rushing Pranay Tej to King George Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The boy’s parents, who said he was healthy and active when he left for school that morning, have blamed the teacher for his death and staged a protest outside the hospital demanding justice.
Police Investigation And Government Response
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and launched an investigation. Andhra Pradesh HRD and IT Minister Nara Lokesh expressed condolences to the family and said the government would take strict legal action against the teacher and the school’s management. Section 17 of the Right to Education Act, 2009, bans corporal punishment and mental harassment of children in schools, making it a punishable offense.
