The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported a rise in temperatures across North India, with Delhi recording a minimum temperature of 12°C this morning. According to IMD Scientist Dr. Soma Sen Roy, the current weather conditions are influenced by a strong western disturbance and the arrival of southerly winds in Delhi.
Temporary Rise in Temperatures
“Today morning, the minimum temperature of Delhi is around 12°C because there is a strong western disturbance coming, and southerly winds have reached Delhi. This has led to a rise in temperatures,” Dr. Roy stated. She further added that the temperature across North India is expected to rise by 1-2°C today, although no further increase is anticipated in Delhi specifically.
Gradual Cooling Expected
The IMD has predicted a gradual drop in temperatures starting from January 24. “After two days, from the morning of the 24th, temperatures might slowly fall as the western disturbance moves away,” Dr. Roy explained.
Broader Impact Across North India
The weather shift, driven by the western disturbance, has affected multiple regions in North India, bringing temporary relief from the chill. However, residents are advised to prepare for cooler conditions as the disturbance weakens and colder winds resume their influence.
The IMD’s forecast highlights the dynamic nature of winter weather in the region, with alternating patterns of warming and cooling expected in the coming days. Citizens are encouraged to stay updated on weather alerts and adjust their plans accordingly.
