Mumbai’s prestigious Lilavati Hospital is embroiled in controversy as its trustees claim to have discovered evidence of black magic rituals on the premises. This revelation comes amid an ongoing financial fraud case exceeding ₹1,250 crore against former trustees.
Allegations of Black Magic Amid Rs 1,250 Crore Fraud Case
According to current trustees, an excavation beneath the office floor led to the discovery of eight urns containing human bones, skulls, hair, rice, and other items associated with occult practices. The findings, documented on video, surfaced after former employees provided information about suspected black magic activities.

The discovery follows a forensic audit that exposed large-scale financial misappropriation. The hospital trust had earlier filed multiple FIRs against former trustees, including Vijay Mehta—brother of the hospital’s founder, Kishore Mehta—and his relatives. The former trustees are accused of siphoning funds through fraudulent purchase orders and manipulated financial records.
In response, former trustee Chetan Mehta dismissed the black magic allegations as baseless, calling them a sensationalized distraction.
Authorities revealed that in 2002, when founder Kishore Mehta traveled abroad for medical treatment, his brother Vijay Mehta allegedly forged documents to appoint his family members as trustees while removing Kishore Mehta from the position. This led to a long legal battle, concluding in 2016 when Kishore Mehta was reinstated.
After Kishore Mehta’s death in 2024, his son Prashant Mehta took over as a permanent trustee. A forensic audit of the hospital’s financial records uncovered massive irregularities, exposing fraudulent transactions.
Additionally, a case has been filed under the Maharashtra Anti-Black Magic Act, alleging that the occult practices were meant to harm Prashant Mehta and his mother, Charu Mehta.
Investigations into both financial fraud and black magic claims are ongoing.
