Will not allow Assam to become a land of love jihad and land jihad: Yogi

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addresses election rally in Assam

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday entered the electoral arena in Assam. Addressing a public rally in Barpeta in support of NDA candidate Deepak Kumar Das, he strongly targeted the Congress and UDF. He said, “Congress has already fled the field before the elections, and the time has come to throw the UDF into the Bay of Bengal”.

He appealed to the people of Assam to once again form a Bharatiya Janata Party government and said that infiltrators must be driven out and the demographic balance of Assam must not be altered. He said the NDA is committed to ensuring that Assam does not become a land of love jihad or land jihad.

He added, Infiltration will not be allowed and any conspiracy by Congress and UDF to change the demographic structure through infiltrators will be defeated. He stated that arrangements are being made to identify each infiltrator and remove them.

CM Yogi said, The double engine government has resolved not to allow Assam to become a hub of infiltration and to drive out rioters. He said whenever Congress and UDF got an opportunity, they insulted India and its identity.

He alleged that the UDF is the origin of infiltration in Assam and seeks to capture power with the support of infiltrators, while Congress, as its ally, is playing with Assam’s culture.
He added that the NDA government is protecting Assam’s cultural heritage and thwarting attempts to alter its demography.

Chief Minister extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Rongali Bihu. He described Assam as a land of pride for India and said that people from across the country visit to seek blessings of Maa Kamakhya.
He said the state’s spiritual, cultural and rich traditions have played a significant role in building ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’.

He highlighted the contributions of Srimanta Sankardeva and Madhavdeva in the Vaishnav tradition and said their legacy has transformed Assam into a land of unity, devotion and humanity. He also mentioned that Kaziranga National Park is globally known for its rhinoceroses and biodiversity.

He praised the Ahom dynasty for resisting foreign invaders and recalled the bravery of Lachit Borphukan as an inspiration for youth. He added that Assam has taken tea to the world through hard work and is now emerging as a centre for chip production as well.

CM Yogi remarked that during Congress rule, the Bharat Ratna was given mainly to members of one family. He said Bhupen Hazarika, a symbol of Assam’s culture, was not awarded Bharat Ratna by Congress, but was honoured in 2019 under the Modi government, while Gopinath Bordoloi received it in 1999 under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

He further informed, the NDA government has promoted culture, tradition and heritage while ensuring governance that benefits villages, the poor, farmers, women and youth without discrimination.

He added, Congress governments, over 60 years, encouraged disorder, riots, curfews and infiltration in Assam, compromising security and disrespecting heritage. He said that under the current government, connectivity through roads, railways, airports and inland waterways has improved significantly and institutions like engineering colleges, medical colleges, AIIMS, IITs and IIMs are being established.

Addressing voters, CM Yogi said that wherever NDA governments are in power, there is development and respect for heritage under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He referred to the Ram Janmabhoomi movement in Ayodhya and said that after decades, the construction of the Ram Mandir became possible under a double engine government.

CM Yogi said, Uttar Pradesh today is free from riots, curfews and mafia. “No Curfew, No Danga, Vaha Sab Hai Changa”. He added that prayers are no longer offered on roads in UP and there is no loud shouting from religious places.
He warned that those attempting riots face strict action, including property confiscation and redistribution among the poors, dalits and tribal communities.

He alleged that Congress and UDF had harmed Assam’s culture by settling infiltrators and allowing them to control resources such as ration, housing and land. He said that the NDA government is taking steps to identify and remove infiltrators while also advancing projects like the Maa Kamakhya Corridor and development works under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

CM Yogi said, only the BJP and NDA government can ensure development and welfare, as Congress and UDF lack both vision and capability. He cited examples from Uttar Pradesh, stating that under 9 years of a double engine government, there have been no riots and development has accelerated. He mentioned schemes such as Ujjwala connections, uninterrupted electricity supply, health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh under Ayushman Bharat, employment opportunities for youth and free ration for the poors.

He added that special packages for tea garden workers in Assam reflect the commitment of the NDA government to inclusive development. He appealed to the people of Assam not to allow forces that compromise national security to gain ground.
