The Chennai Airport has declared that as the city's rainfall lessens, their airfield is once again open for arrivals and departures. According to weather forecasters, cyclone Michaung is expected to make landfall in the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday, December 5, at approximately noon. Andhra Pradesh's Health Department officers have been ordered to assess the situation and ensure that all necessary safety precautions are in place, so they are presently on high alert.
Andhra Pradesh's Vulnerability to Floods and Cyclones
Andhra Pradesh is most vulnerable to floods and cyclones among coastal states because it has the longest coastline. Chennai residents are enduring severe waterlogging on the streets and numerous residential areas flooding as a result of the city's ongoing heavy rains, which have lasted for a week. Because Cyclone Michaung was expected to make landfall in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the IMD had issued a red alert due to the extreme rainfall.
