  • Atishi : AAP Demands Resignation of Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal Over Remarks on Atishi

Atishi : AAP Demands Resignation of Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal Over Remarks on Atishi

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has called for the resignation of Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal following her controversial remarks about senior party leader Atishi, who has been nominated as the next Chief Minister of Delhi. AAP leader Dilip Pandey accused Ms. Maliwal of following the BJP’s narrative despite being appointed to the Rajya Sabha by the AAP.

“Swati Maliwal accepts a Rajya Sabha ticket from the AAP but chooses to react using a BJP script. If she has any sense of dignity, she should step down as a Rajya Sabha MP and pursue the seat through a BJP ticket,” stated Mr. Pandey.

Growing Rift Between Maliwal and AAP

This demand for Ms. Maliwal’s resignation comes amid a deepening rift between her and the party. The conflict escalated after Ms. Maliwal accused Bibhav Kumar, a close aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, of assaulting her at the Chief Minister’s residence. These allegations have further strained her relationship with the AAP leadership.

Swati Maliwal’s Criticism of Atishi’s Appointment

Earlier today, the AAP announced that Atishi would succeed Arvind Kejriwal as Delhi’s Chief Minister, with Mr. Kejriwal planning to step down later in the evening. The decision drew sharp criticism from Ms. Maliwal, who called it a “sad day for Delhi.” She alleged that Atishi’s parents had attempted to save convicted terrorist Afzal Guru from execution, a claim that has added fuel to the ongoing controversy.

  • President’s Rule in Delhi? AAP Leader Atishi Alleges Conspiracy by BJP, Says Kejriwal Government Being Targeted

President’s Rule in Delhi? AAP Leader Atishi Alleges Conspiracy by BJP, Says Kejriwal Government Being Targeted

Atishi, a prominent leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and a minister in the Delhi government, has raised serious concerns over a purported conspiracy by the Central government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), to destabilize the democratically elected administration under Arvind Kejriwal. Atishi’s claims come amidst a backdrop of escalating tensions and legal battles surrounding the AAP leadership.

    Allegations of Conspiracy

Atishi has alleged that the Central government is orchestrating a plot to impose President’s rule in Delhi, effectively dismissing the authority of the elected government. She pointed to various actions, including the refusal of senior IAS officers to attend government meetings, as evidence of this conspiracy. According to Atishi, these maneuvers aim to undermine the mandate of the people of Delhi, who overwhelmingly supported Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP.

    Legal Battles and Accusations

The allegations of conspiracy come at a time when Arvind Kejriwal himself is embroiled in legal troubles. Kejriwal, the national convenor of AAP, is currently in judicial custody due to ongoing investigations into allegations of money laundering related to the Delhi Excise Policy case. The AAP has vehemently denied these allegations, accusing the Modi-led Centre of orchestrating a smear campaign ahead of crucial elections.

    Opposition’s Response

The opposition parties have rallied behind the AAP, accusing the BJP of misusing investigative agencies to cripple their political opponents. Several petitions were filed in the Delhi High Court seeking the removal of Kejriwal as Chief Minister, but they were swiftly rebuked by the court. The bench, led by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan, imposed a fine on one petitioner for attempting to drag the court into political matters.

    Delhi High Court’s Stance

The Delhi High Court, while acknowledging the gravity of the situation, clarified that it does not possess the authority to declare a breakdown of the constitutional machinery in the national capital. The court firmly stated that it cannot impose Governor’s rule in Delhi and emphasized the need to refrain from politicizing legal proceedings.

According to news agency ANI, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Saturday approved the Delhi government’s decision to give Public Works Department Minister Atishi the charges for the service and vigilance departments.

A day after the Rajya Sabha approved the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which replaced an ordinance released by the federal government on May 19 to give the LG authority over bureaucrats in Delhi, the AAP government announced its decision to assign additional fees to Atishi.

In June, Saxena gained additional responsibilities for the revenue, planning, and finance ministries after accepting the suggestion to reorganise the Cabinet. Kailash Gahlot, the former minister of transportation, once oversaw these three departments.

  • AAP’s Atishi Bluntly Targets Sambit Patra

AAP’s Atishi Bluntly Targets Sambit Patra

Aam Aadmi Party has made serious allegations against BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra. AAP leader Atishi said that Sambit Patra was made the chairman of the Indian Tourism Development Commission on 30 November 2021. Despite this, he is not only campaigning for a particular party, but sitting in his government office, he debates in news channels on behalf of BJP. Atishi has written a letter to the CVC and the Ministry of Tourism, stating this is against the service rule. Along with this, there has been a demand to remove Patra from the post of chairman with immediate effect.

Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson Atishi accused BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra of misusing the post. Said that he has demanded the removal of Patra from the post of ITDC chairman. In a press conference on Sunday, he said that on Saturday itself he has written a letter to the Union Tourism Minister G Krishna Reddy in this regard. He has also sent a copy of this letter to the Central Vigilance Commission. He said that being the chairman of any commission, Sambit Patra is a public servant. An important condition for any public servant is that he cannot be associated with any political party.

Atishi alleged that Patra is not only still associated with a particular party, but he is campaigning or promoting for the party while sitting in a government office. This is against the service rule. Showing the timeline of Patra’s Twitter, he said that this is proof of working for a particular party while sitting in a government office. Therefore he is not eligible to hold this post.

AAP spokesperson Atishi said that she agreed that people feel very sad when they see the distribution of free ki revdi. But when he sees his friends distributing revri worth 10 lakh crores, it hurts a lot. Atishi said that with those 10 lakh crore rupees, all government schools in the country could have been improved and made like private schools. If the public gets free electricity, then Modi ji gets a stomach ache, but he wants free electricity for his MPs.

There is a party which does it for family and friends and on the other side there is Arvind Kejriwal who does it for the public. Atishi said that we have told the Election Commission what we have always been doing. With profits, every family can be given electricity, water and good education/health. This is what the CAG report also says.
