CES 2023: It's time for the Consumer Electronics Show in early January (CES). The yearly, four-day conference in Las Vegas serves as a global forum for innovation by showcasing businesses and innovators at the cutting edge of technology.

Amazon showcased a number of its most recent innovations at CES, like the new Ring Car Cam and Astro, while attending in person for the first time since the epidemic. Amazon also revealed new capabilities for Ring, voice-activated vehicle integrations, interesting partnerships with Panasonic and Disney, updates to its rollout of Matter, the next smart-home communication standard, as well as products that use Sidewalk, Amazon's safe, always-on community network.

Ring introduces a dual-facing car camera to its product lineup

Ring added the Ring Car Cam, which is now available for pre-order, to its lineup of products. With a dual-facing camera for interior and exterior recording and clever sensors to detect specific events surrounding and inside your vehicle, whether it is parked or in motion, Ring Car Cam extends Ring protection from your house to your vehicle. The Ring Peephole Cam, a video doorbell that can be quickly installed over an existing door peephole in an apartment or rental property, was also made public by Ring. Renters will love Peephole Cam since it has a 1080p HD camera, night vision, two-way talk, knock and motion detection, and other great features.

Disney and Amazon at CES

The Hey Disney! voice assistant, which will provide users access to a variety of Disney enchantments through their Echo devices at home and in a few Disney Resort hotel rooms, was publicly shown by Amazon for the first time. More than 20 Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars characters, including Mickey Mouse, Dory from Finding Nemo, and Olaf from Frozen, will be available for customers to interact with. They may play games, hear jokes, listen to soundscapes, and more. The programme will soon be available to Americans for home use through the Alexa Skills Store or as part of an Amazon Kids+ membership.

New gadgets with Amazon Sidewalk support

In order to link billions of devices, Amazon Sidewalk, a private, secure, always-on community network, has just launched a slew of new third-party gadgets. Customers will be able to purchase the new products from New Cosmos USA Inc., Browan, and Meshify (an IoT division of HSB) later this year, while a smart modem from Deviceroy is already on the market.

These gadgets utilise Sidewalk's low-bandwidth, long-range connectivity, which may result in battery-saving advantages without the expense of cellular data or the constrained coverage of Wi-Fi. Amazon soon will grant developers broad access to tools and resources that will allow them quickly construct new Sidewalk-enabled products in an effort to empower even more device makers this year.

“Alexa, find an EV charging station”

According to a recent announcement by Amazon, over 150,000 public charging stations will be easy to locate and navigate for electric vehicle (EV) drivers in the United States later this year. When you ask Alexa to locate an EV charging station, you will get a list of accessible public charging places nearby, along with plug type availability and travel time and distance. After that, you may tell Alexa which charging station you wish to use, and she will give you directions there.

One of the biggest public fast-charging networks in the country, EVgo, will be the first EV charging operator to accept voice-initiated payments. Customers of Alexa can ask to start a charge and pay for it if they select an EVgo charging station.

Amazon Astro

Astro is a novel and distinctive form of robot that can assist users with a variety of tasks. In an effort to be practical and convenient, Astro combines recent developments in artificial intelligence, computer vision, sensor technologies, voice, and edge computing.

Astro's additional capabilities, which include pet detection and item identification, were previously disclosed by Amazon. For the first time, Amazon sent Astro to CES this year to give live demonstrations of the robot and its improved capability.
