Amitabh Bachchan: The Ministry of Consumer Affairs has received a complaint from the trade association CAIT regarding an advertisement for Flipkart’s upcoming Big Billion Days sale that features Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan. The complaint claims that the advertisement is “misleading.” In fact, CAIT claimed in its case that the advertisement was defamatory of the nation’s tiny retail shops and “misleading.” they have also asked for the removal of this advertisement. Additionally, CAIT recommended that Bachchan be fined Rs. 10 lakh and that Flipkart be penalised under the Consumer Protection Act for “false or misleading advertisement.”
Amitabh Bachchan and Flipkart face legal actions
According to Section 2(47) of the CCPA, Flipkart misled the public regarding the costs of mobile devices through Amitabh Bachchan, according to CAIT General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal’s statement in the complaint submitted to the agency. This advertisement claims that the price at which they are selling the smartphone is not something that an offline retailer could offer. This is not the case, though. Additionally offering good deals on mobiles and other items are offline store owners. Although it was formerly public, this advertisement has since been made private or removed from YouTube.
