CIA developing ChatGPT like AI bot to help with data analysis, Details

The United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is apparently leading the creation of a cutting-edge AI chatbot in an effort to improve its intelligence skills and compete with international rivals.

CIA: The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency claims it is developing a chatbot in the style of ChatGPT to assist analysts in sorting through massive volumes of data so they can enhance their investigations. Read on to learn more.

CIA developing its own AI bot

Randy Nixon, director of the CIA’s AI branch, emphasised the growing difficulty of sorting through ever-growing volumes of data in the modern digital era, which emphasised the necessity for such a ground-breaking technology. This advancement comes as intelligence organisations battle the enormous burden of analysing a large amount of information accessible on the internet.

The AI tool is being developed by the CIA’s Open-Source Enterprise section, and Nixxon believes that a chatbot is an obvious way to spread the tool more quickly. Intelligence agencies will soon get access to the AI tool.

How can it be used?

According to Nixon, the agents can use the tool to search for information across the ocean of publicly available data and then ask follow-up inquiries, which will just continue to add to the collection of information with no constraints other than the cost involved.

What did Nixon say?

“We’ve gone from newspapers and radio to newspapers and television, to newspapers and cable television, to basic internet, to big data, and it just keeps going,” Randy Nixon, the CIA’s director of Open Source Enterprise, said in an interview with Bloomberg. “We have to find the needles in the needle field.”

“Then you can take it to the next level and start chatting and asking questions of the machines to give you answers, also sourced,” he said. “Our collection can just continue to grow and grow with no limitations other than how much things cost.”

“The scale of how much we collect and what we collect on has grown astronomically over the last 80-plus years, so much so that this could be daunting and at times unusable for our consumers,” Nixon said. He visualises the tool allowing a scenario “where the machines are pushing you the right information, one where the machine can auto-summarize, group things together.”
