Code Llama: Meta has released a new tool called "Code Llama" that uses artificial intelligence to generate code and debug human-written work for programmers.
Code Llama, an AI coding tool from Meta, will be offered without charge, the company said on Thursday. It can generate code strings from prompts, as well as finish and debug code when directed to a specific code string.
Today we’re releasing Code Llama, a large language model built on top of Llama 2, fine-tuned for coding & state-of-the-art for publicly available coding tools.

According to Meta, the model has improved coding capabilities. Code Llama will produce code based on a user's request. Debugging and code completion are two additional uses for it. It is compatible with several of the most widely used programming languages today, including Python, C++, Java, PHP, Typescript (Javascript), C#, Bash, and others.
According to Meta's official blog post, "Programmers are already using LLMs to assist in a variety of tasks, ranging from writing new software to debugging existing code," adding, "The goal is to make developer workflows more efficient so they can focus on the most human-centric aspects of their jobs."
According to Meta, Code Llama is made to assist software developers working in a range of fields, such as research, business, open-source initiatives, NGOs, and other industries.
With the new tool, Meta is aiming to compete with ChatGPT, which has apparently gained a lot of popularity among programmers.
