Elon Musk announced on Friday that the number of monthly users of social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, achieved a "new high" and published a graph displaying the most recent figure of over 540 million.
As the business undergoes organisational changes and faces competition from the recently released Threads app, owned and run by Meta Platforms, Musk's statement on X regarding the user numbers comes at a time when both are happening.

According to a statement made before Musk bought the company in October, Twitter has 229 million active monthly users as of May 2022. 259.4 million daily active users were reported by Musk in November.
