Google: Official confirmation has been provided by Google on the presence of a bug in the Android 14 update that affects Pixel customers who use multiple user profiles. The internet behemoth has acknowledged that there is a problem and stated that attempts are being made to fix it. Read on to learn more.

Google Acknowledges Android 14 Bug

Due to a wider distribution, it appears that this fault is not device-specific, contrary to earlier allegations that it was only present in the Pixel 6. Google apparently disregarded such reports. All Pixel 6/6a, 7/7a, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet upgrades to Android 14 this early appear to be impacted.

With duplicate apps, Android's user-profile system splits "home" and "work" profiles to keep work and personal data apart. It also supports many users on a single device, which is useful for tablets. Many users complain that the primary profile—which is typically the significant one—gets shut out, suggesting that the fault is limited to those who use this little-used function.

Furthermore, some users have experienced a sensation of helplessness similar to that of being the victim of a ransomware attack because they are unable to snap screenshots of their devices due to insufficient storage space.

A fix should soon be out

Although Google has acknowledged the bug, a representative from the company promised users on the Google issue tracker that the team is actively working on a fix and is thoroughly analysing the storage issue. It is anticipated that more information on the resolution will be made available shortly.
