Google: One of the biggest platforms for distributing apps in the world is the Google Play Store. There has been a constant struggle to keep dangerous apps and programs that are against company rules out of the Google Play Store. The Play Store is frequently used by malevolent individuals to disrupt Android phones due to the platform's open nature and number of submissions. 43 unsavoury apps that were covertly draining phone batteries were removed by Google in a recent incident.

Google removes 43 battery-draining apps

A concerning tendency among several Google Play-available apps was recently discovered by McAfee's Mobile Research Team.

Due to their ability to serve advertisements even when the user's device is off, the search engine giant has banned 43 harmful apps from its Play Store. The apps, which have been downloaded 2.5 million times overall, continued to use mobile data even when the user's phone was not in use.

When installing new apps, McAfee advises exercising caution and suggests carefully reading the permissions that are being requested by the programme before installation. Users are also advised to keep an eye on their device's performance for any unexpected battery drains that can point to fraudulent activity.

What should one do?

It's crucial to take into account any potential app-related concerns for customers who are experiencing battery drain. One should be aware, though, that a malfunctioning battery or outdated equipment could also be the culprit. Therefore, users are recommended to exercise caution when granting access to unidentified apps and only do so when absolutely necessary for app performance.
