Online Job Scam: In a recent incident of online job scam, an engineering graduate, Harshvardhan from Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh lost around Rs. 20 lakh while searching for job post completing his degree. The boy wanted to begin his career after completing his studies. Meanwhile, he came across a Telegram group called “Developer Professionals” and joined it on the advice of one of his friend. This group was said to provide job opportunities for software jobs.

While scrolling on the telegram group, One day, Harshvardhan encountered a person posing as a job provider, the person offered Harshvardhan a job in Mindtree Limited Bengaluru, then he asked him to pay Rs. 20 lakh in exchange for providing thsi opportunity. With the hope of getting a job, Harshvardhan accepted the proposal and started transferring the money in multiple installments in july and August.

But when Harshvardhan went to Bengaluru for collecting his appointment letter, he came to know that it was a fake job offer and he got trapped in scam. Realizing the reality, he immediately rreported the whole incident to the police.

We have seen several job scams earlier also. You can stay safe from such scams if you follow the undermentioned tips:

Identify Unrealistic offers: First, you need to identify the unrealistic job offers, if the job proposal seems so good to be a reality. It can be a scam, so you are suggested to ignore such lucrative proposals.

Avoid Clicking on Unknown Links: You must avaoid clicking on unknown links because it is often seen that they redirect you to unsafe and fake web portals.

Protect Personal Information: You are recommended to not provide any personal and confidential infomation to any unfimiliar caller, especially when they eagerly demand for it.

Act Promptly: If you feel that it’s a scam attempt, act immediately. You are suggested to delete the sent messages and end the call.

Avoid Providing Financial and Confidential Informational: You must not provide your financial and confidential information to anyone. This information includes Aadhaar Card number, passport info and other banking related information.
