South Africa: Unsurprisingly, 5G was a major issue at the recent Africa Tech Festival 2022 in Cape Town. Waiting for the new mobile broadband standard has been aggravating for South Africa in particular because the spectrum auction proved to be a lengthy process. Service providers throughout the country are speeding up their efforts to put out 5G connectivity and solutions now that it has been completed.

Reasons on why 4G is required
Even while this is positive news for those nearby, 5G is still a ways off in other regions of Africa. Therefore, the rollout, penetration, and quality of 4G and LTE across African continent should continue to receive high priority from service providers, governments, and citizens alike.
This was one of the subjects discussed at a roundtable organised by Huawei and presided over by Dr. Mohamed Madkour, its VP for Global Carrier Network Solutions and Marketing. According to him, 4G and LTE have had a big impact on the world and will keep doing so.
The benefits of 4G are astounding for people all over the world. Madkour asserts that 4G has enabled the creation of countless companies that have contributed trillions of dollars to global GDP. The Huawei VP also brought up the fact that 5G is still in its infancy on the African continent and the necessity of a robust 4G layer in order to enable it.
Three years into its existence, 5G has just begun to scrape the surface. 5G, which has only been accessible for three years, hasn't even been scratched.

Still sizable populations continue to live without connectivity
It is evident by looking at some of the extra connectivity-related difficulties that many African nations still experience that building fibre optic networks has not always been simple and that sizable populations continue to live without connectivity. Fixed wireless access (FWA) solutions, according to Madkour, offer a considerable opportunity for connecting the aforementioned segments in this circumstance.
The VP asserts that through promoting connectivity through FWA and related technologies, service providers may be able to prepare their customers for the usage of 5G when it becomes available.
