Traffic Rules: Many people leave home in a rush or carelessly without storing crucial paperwork in their car. This minor blunder of yours could cost you hundreds of rupees. In this article, we will list the documents you must carry while driving to keep yourself safe from a hefty challan.

  • Driver’s licence
  • Registration papers
  • Insurance Papers
  • PUC

Fine as per the documents

  • The traffic officer will first request your driver’s licence after stopping your vehicle. Even if you have all the documents but not the driver’s licence, the police might still issue a challan. In Delhi, a challan of Rs 5,000 can be issued without a driving licence.
  • If you do not have a registration certificate, you may be fined Rs 10,000 or possibly imprisoned for 6 months. If you make the same mistake again, you might face a Rs 15,000 fine or perhaps two years in jail.
  • It is critical to get automobile insurance. You could lose money if your car is not insured. If the vehicle is not insured, the police may issue a Rs 2000 challan.
  • Finally, A PUC certificate. A PUC certificate is valid for a year and should be renewed every year. A fine of Rs 1000 can be filed by the traffic police if you are found driving without a PUC.
