Twitter has informed the Delhi High Court by filing an affidavit that it will take 8 weeks to appoint Grievance Officers in compliance with IT rules. Twitter has also told the court that it is in the process of setting up a liaison office in India which will be their permanent physical contact address.

Twitter has also said that it will submit its first compliance report as per the new IT rules by July 11. Twitter said, "Twitter is attempting to comply with the new IT regulations, although Twitter reserves the right to challenge the validity and rights of the rules." Twitter said in the affidavit that recruitment has also been taken out by Twitter for the Chief Compliance Officer."

Earlier, the Center had told the Delhi High Court that Twitter Inc. Failed to comply with the new IT rules, which are the law of the land and whose compliance is mandatory. Reacting to this, Twitter said that it is in the process of appointing a local grievance redressal officer.

Twitter on Monday filed an affidavit in the Delhi High Court saying it is in the "final stage" of appointing an interim chief compliance officer and an interim local grievance officer under the new IT rules. In the meantime, a grievance officer is looking into the complaints of Indian consumers, the company said.
