As per Reports, Everyday around 25000 prohibited items are seized by Security agencies from passenger in the Airlines at different Airports in the whole country, Bureau of Civil Aviation said on Monday.

DG, BCAS, Zulfikar Hasan, inaugrated Aviation Security Culture Week 2023, the program was held at the Headquarters of Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

In the event, Zulfikar Hasan said that " Every day, we screen around 8 lakh handbags and five lakh check-in baggage at all airports in the country. And while checking, we find around 25000 prohobited items that create a diversion for security personnel and time of security personnel, and passengers gets wasted in clearance".

BCAS mentioned talking about the most seized items that Powerbank alone accounts for 44 percent of the seized items, second were the lighters that accounted for 19 percent, loose batteries (18 per cent) and laptops accounts for 11 per cent of the total check-in-baggage seized items. In the handbags, lighter tops the list with accounting 26 per cent of the total seized handbag items, Scissors (22 per cent), knife (16 per cent) and liquids were accounted for 14 percent of the total seized items.

Hasan further added that complete security is a necessity for the growth of Aviation Sector. He said that " We cannot afford to have a single mistake, and for this reason, we have organised a week-long program to educate people as India has the world's highest number of First-time flyers".

Hasan said that Cyber threats which also includes drone attacks are a new type of security threats, Further, He added that " We are working on all fronts for the safety of passengers. Along with the safety of onboard passengers we are equally taking care of the safety of people at the lanside area of the Airport".
