WhatsApp: The Tool Is Testing Edit Button For Android, Details Here

WhatsApp: The edit button for messages is being tested by WhatsApp. The feature has been seen in the latest beta version of Android, which means that if it works well, it could soon be added to the stable version as well. WaBetaInfo has shared a screenshot of the feature, which shows that the app will put an “Edited” label on every message box to let the recipient know that changes have been made.

The messaging app will only allow 15 minutes for message editing

At the moment, we don’t know if WhatsApp will send a notification if a message is changed. It’s also not clear if the messaging app will show the time or date of the message that was changed. According to the source cited, a user will only have 15 minutes to change a message on the platform. This seems fair since users will only be able to fix mistakes and not change the whole message.

Because the addition of the edit button will pose credibility problems, it is currently unclear whether WhatsApp will also include a tool for users to check all of the updated versions of a message. Soon, there will likely be more information about this feature. There is no information about when this feature will be added to the stable version as of right now. It can be seen in the beta update for Android 2.22.22.14.

At the moment, if someone makes a mistake in a message, they can only delete it and start over. But the problem is that the app shows a tag that says this message was deleted, which makes this feature useless. The other person starts to wonder what the message could be.

In some countries, Twitter has an edit option available

Aside from that, other social media sites like Twitter have also thought about and implemented this idea. The edit button, which is available in some areas, is being tested on the microblogging site. The site recently said that users would only be able to change a tweet five times, which is a lot more than what WhatsApp users get. Also, Twitter has said that edited tweets will show up on the site with an icon, a timestamp, and a label to show that the original tweet has been changed.
