2023 was the year when Artificial Intelligence came into the spotlight. The tech industry witnessed a rise in the discussion of ethical issues related to AI including potential job displacement, data privacy and others. Apart from this, 2023 also witnessed the arrival of AI robots such as Elon Musl’s Optimus Gen 2

Sam Altman’s Dismissal 

Sam Altman’s dismissal was one of the news that mattered in the tech industry this year. The tech biz was dismissed as the CEO of OpenAI by the board members due to a communication breakdown with them. After a long turmoil in the AI firm, Atman was called back to OpenAI to join as the OpenAI CEO with a newly constituted board. 

Deepfakes Threatened Celebrities 

Although Deefake technology is not a new arrival in the industry, it was the highlight of 2023 as some of the renowned celebrities became victims of this threat including Rashmika Mandanna and Katrina Kaif. 

iPhone 15 Series Launch

Apple launched the iPhone 15 series in India on September 15. The new series came with many new additions such as a titanium frame in Pro models, a TYPE-C charging port in all the models and a 48MP camera sensor made standard across all variants. The A17 Pro chipset redefined the speed and became the highlight of the new series. 

Major Layoffs in the Tech Industry

2023 witnessed layoffs in the major tech companies including Microsoft, Amazon and Google. These tech companies cut hundreds of roles as they invested heavily in deploying AI in these roles. These job cuts in the major tech companies further raised concerns of potential job displacement due to AI and forced people to adopt a futuristic approach to prevent losing their jobs.
