Zoom head discussed to take legal action against JioMeet.

Zo weom Video Communications' India head said he was "shocked" at the resemblance that recently launched video conferencing app JioMeet had with the Zoom app, and said there have been a "lot of discussions internally" of pursuing a legal route.

With the pandemic taking reigns in the country, many people resorted to video conferencing apps. One of the most downloaded apps was certainly Zoom.

Jio Platforms has launched its very own HD video conferencing application called JioMeet in India. The app is available for free to all users.

One of the key JioMeet features is that it allows up to 100 participants in the same meeting, which is similar to Zoom. However, the key JioMeet VS Zoom difference is that JioMeet app currently allows 100 participants in on a group video call which can last up to 24 hours with no restrictions

"We knew it was happening, we knew it was coming. It's fine, it is not the first time that Zoom has faced competition. Our strength has been our products and technology and our focus is on customers. What our competitors do is their strategy," Sameer Raje, India head for Zoom Video Communications, told ET.

Although Raje did not comment on a lawsuit against JioMeet, he said that he would leave it on the legal team to take the matter further.
