The Bangladesh viral video, shared by the X (formerly Twitter) account ‘Megh Updates,’ shows Hindu Principal Durlavananda Barai signing his resignation letter under pressure. The scene is distressing, with army officers and a crowd of onlookers, including students, surrounding him. Reports reveal that this was not an isolated case—physics teacher Bimal Pandey and teacher Liton Dutta were also compelled to resign by Islamist extremist students.
The incident has sparked outrage online. In the comments section of the viral video, one netizen remarked, “A country near to its final stage just like Pakistan, Afghanistan. Beginning of hell.” Another user commented, “Hindus should leave Bangladesh ASAP.”
Other comments highlighted the perceived lack of international response. One user wrote, “So, the world is silent while a Hindu principal is forced to resign by fundamentalists, and the army is just watching? Guess ‘freedom of expression’ doesn’t apply to everyone. Silence is golden—unless it’s about injustice.” Another added, “Bangladesh is digging itself into a grave that’s becoming increasingly deeper with each passing day.”
Violence against Hindus has escalated in Bangladesh, particularly amid political turmoil and the decline of Sheikh Hasina's government. On August 29, a mob of students and outsiders attacked Shukla Rani Halder, the principal of Bakerganj Government College in Barishal, demanding her resignation, according to Prothom Alo.
Numerous incidents targeting the Hindu community have gone viral, showing mobs destroying shops, attacking individuals, and demanding resignations. India has expressed grave concerns over these developments and urged Bangladesh to take immediate steps to ensure the safety of its Hindu minority.
