Cricket Viral Video: Indian cricket has witnessed several historic moments throughout the decades. However, there was a time when fans could even go to the pitch and also garland them. It is difficult to even imagine a situation like this in the present scenario. A video has now emerged on social media that shows the veteran batter Sunil Gavaskar being garlanded by fans as soon as he completed a historic achievement.
What did Sunil Gavaskar do?
Veteran Indian batter is the first batter to score 10,000 runs in test cricket. During the Australian tour of 1985/86, the individual in question accumulated more than 9,000 runs. He achieved two centuries on that tour and added two more during the home season, taking his total to 9,827 before the Pakistan series began. At that point, he only needed to make 173 more runs to reach a significant milestone. He scored 91 runs in Madras, which brought him closer to the mark, he opted out from second match but scored 24 runs in the third match, now he required just 58 runs more.
Finally, in the fourth game he made a fifty. Although Gavaskar admitted to not looking at the scoreboard while batting, the anticipatory applause from the crowd informed him that he was on 9,999 runs. When he played a late cut off Faqih, he knew that he had reached the milestone, and celebrated by raising his bat as he hurried towards the non-striker’s end. Play had to be stopped due to the crowd invasion, followed by handshaking and garlanding. However, he was eventually dismissed after scoring 63 runs.
