Cricket Viral Video: Despite having scored numerous runs in domestic cricket, Rahul's Test debut in the third Test of the 2014-15 Border Gavaskar series in Melbourne did not go as planned as he was dismissed for three and one in the first and second innings respectively. Nevertheless, he announced his arrival in international cricket by scoring his first Test century in just his second Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
In the fourth Test at Sydney, Australia scored a massive 572-7 after batting first, which was typical of the series. Despite his twin failures in Melbourne, India backed Rahul and gave him his preferred opening spot. In his third innings in Test cricket, Rahul appeared to have learned from his previous mistakes and was more composed. He had earned his place in the international arena with his solid technique and compact game and he had faith in that. He hit his first boundary after facing 35 deliveries, pulling Josh Hazlewood for four behind square.
Rahul formed a 97-run partnership for the second wicket with Rohit Sharma, followed by a 138-run partnership for the third wicket with Virat Kohli. He exhibited remarkable levels of concentration and discipline, and never appeared to be out of control, unlike in his first two Test innings.
The fact that he reached his century off the 253rd delivery he faced was a testament to his patience and discipline, particularly when Rohit and Kohli were playing their expansive style of cricket at the other end. He was eventually dismissed for 110 when he attempted another pull shot off Mitchell Starc's delivery outside off, but only managed to top-edge it and provide an easy return catch to the bowler.
After trailing the Australians by 97 runs, India finished their first innings with a score of 475. In response, the hosts attacked the Indian bowlers and scored at a rate of more than six runs per over, finishing with a score of 251-6 and setting a target of 349 for India. However, the match ultimately ended in a draw, with India finishing on 252-7.
