Ajay Devgn’s much-anticipated comedy-drama Son Of Sardaar 2 has been delayed. Initially planned for a July 25 release, the film will now hit cinemas a week later. The decision comes right after the massive success of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s debut film, Saiyaara, which is breaking records at the box office. However, the new release date now puts Son Of Sardaar 2 in direct competition with Dhadak 2, featuring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
The makers shared the news on Instagram and wrote, “Jassi Paaji and toli will see you in cinemas worldwide on 1st August 2025.”

Industry insiders revealed that the overwhelming response to Saiyaara influenced the change in release plans. A source told Bollywood Hungama, “YRF’s Saiyaara has taken a surprise gigantic opening on the day of its release, July 18. The reports of the film are extremely positive, and hence, it will do better on Saturday than on Friday. Meanwhile, Sunday will be huge and it’ll also stay strong in the weekdays and the second week as well. In such a scenario, having a big film like Son Of Sardaar 2 just a week later will not be good for the business for both films. Hence, Ajay Devgn, Jio Studios and others took the decision of moving a week ahead with their film’s release.”
Directed by Mohit Suri and backed by Yash Raj Films, Saiyaara is proving to be a box office sensation. The musical romantic drama has opened with a stellar performance, collecting around Rs 20 crore nett on its first day. It marks an impressive debut for Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.
Son Of Sardaar 2 Vs Dhadak 2
After the revised release date, Son Of Sardaar 2 will now clash with Dhadak 2. Starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, the sequel follows Vidhi and Nilesh, two young lovers from different castes, as they struggle against societal barriers.
The film, a spiritual sequel to the 2018 hit Dhadak, is generating its own hype, setting up a major box office showdown on August 1.
