The release of Anushka Sharma’s much-awaited film Chakda Xpress continues to remain uncertain, sparking speculation among fans and the industry alike. The biopic, based on the life of Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami, has long been completed, yet there is no official release date in sight.
In an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who plays a significant role in the film, echoed the sentiments of eager fans. “You don’t know how badly I’m waiting for the film to release because it is a fantastic film,” he shared.
“Anushka’s Best Performance” Says Co-Star
Bhattacharya did not hold back in praising the lead actor’s work. “It is the best performance of Anushka Sharma to date. I don’t know why they are not releasing it. It’s a really, really fantastic film,” he said.
When asked if the film was shelved or merely postponed, he admitted with honesty, “I have no idea. If I had any information about the film, I would tell you first.”
The actor added that since Clean Slate Filmz (Anushka Sharma’s production house) and Netflix are both involved, the delay might stem from unresolved issues between the two. “What’s going on between the two, I have no clue,” he stated.
Delays Hurt More Than Just Audiences, Says Dibyendu
Beyond the professional disappointment, Bhattacharya emphasized the emotional and financial toll prolonged delays take on everyone associated with a film. “A lot of hard work goes into making a film—from the research phase to the final print. Many families run on the income generated through it – technicians, daily wage workers. It’s very sad,” he said.
With Chakda Xpress reportedly in post-production for a long time, both cast and fans continue to wait for clarity on its release.
