Housefull 5 Box Office Collection Day 2: Is Akshay Kumar Starrer Giving Tough Competition to Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava? 25% Jump Registered

Housefull 5 is off to a strong start at the box office. The Akshay Kumar-led comedy has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in two days. But even with a jump in collections, the film is far behind Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava, which continues to dominate.

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 features a big ensemble cast that includes Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, and Soundarya Sharma. Produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, the film had high expectations—and it delivered, at least for its genre.

Housefull 5 Box Office Collection Day 2: Film Crosses Rs 50 Cr Mark

The film opened with Rs 24 crore in India on Friday. By Saturday, collections jumped to Rs 30 crore. That brings the total domestic collection to Rs 54 crore. Globally, it earned Rs 40 crore on the first day alone.

Interestingly, the film did well in cities like Chennai, where comedies rarely pull such big crowds. Chennai recorded 52% occupancy. Across India, the average occupancy on Saturday was over 33%. With Sunday earnings still pending, Housefull 5 could close the weekend on a high note.

A unique twist in its release strategy might be helping too. The makers dropped two versions (Housefull 5A and Housefull 5B), each with a different ending. This “double climax” trick seems to have sparked curiosity and repeat visits.

Comparison With Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava 

While Housefull 5 is picking up pace, it’s much behind the blockbuster release Chhaava. Vicky Kaushal’s historical action drama opened with Rs 31 crore on Day 1 and Rs 37 crore on Day 2, totalling Rs 68 crore in two days. That’s Rs 14 crore more than Housefull 5 over the same period.

The patriotic theme of Chhaava struck a deeper chord with audiences. Kaushal’s performance and the emotional storyline drew strong reactions across age groups.

Despite comparisons, both stand on their own. Akshay’s film was never in a direct clash with Chhaava. They serve different vibes as they belong to different genres.
