Metro In Dino Box Office Day 5: Anurag Basu’s Film Sees Slight Growth Amid Tuesday Offer, Still Low Overall - Another Disaster Loading?

Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan starrer Metro In Dino showed a decent start when it released on July 4. Directed by Anurag Basu, the musical drama earned well over its opening weekend. But by the weekdays, the pace slowed down sharply. On Day 5 (Tuesday), the film saw a small bump in collections, helped by a Tuesday offer. Even with this, it only just crossed the Rs 20 crore mark, still far behind its big-budget expectations.

As per Sacnilk’s early estimates, the film earned Rs 2.9 crore on Tuesday. This took the total India net to Rs 22.15 crore. The Hindi occupancy on Tuesday was nearly 29.24%, with low numbers in the morning but a better response in night shows. But despite this slight boost, the movie’s overall box office story remains disappointing.

The day-wise collections reflect the struggle. The film opened at Rs 3.5 crore on Friday, jumped to Rs 6 crore on Saturday, and peaked at Rs 7.25 crore on Sunday. But the first Monday saw a big drop to Rs 2.5 crore, and Tuesday’s Rs 2.9 crore offered little relief.

Made on a reported budget of Rs 85 crore, the movie still has a long way to go before breaking even. And the competition is heating up. Upcoming releases like Maalik, Saiyaara, and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan are likely to eat into its audience. If the current trend stays the same, Metro In Dino could finish its theatrical run with below-average numbers.
