Noida–Lucknow Greenfield Expressway: ₹45,000 Crore Project to Cut Travel Time to Just 3 Hours by 2026

Built at a cost of ₹45,000 crore, the expressway is expected to be completed by 2026.

Noida Lucknow Greenfield Expressway: The Uttar Pradesh government has launched one of its most ambitious infrastructure projects yet—an access-controlled Greenfield Expressway connecting Noida and Lucknow. Estimated at ₹45,000 crore, the mega project will transform connectivity between the National Capital Region (NCR) and the state capital.

Currently, the road journey between Noida and Lucknow takes 8–9 hours, depending on traffic. However, the new expressway promises to cut this travel time by more than half, allowing vehicles to cover the stretch in just 3–4 hours.

Key Features of the Expressway

  • Access-controlled design: No traffic signals, ensuring uninterrupted high-speed travel.
  • Smart tolling system: Automatic toll collection to eliminate halts at toll booths.
  • Infrastructure upgrades: Service lanes, overbridges, underpasses, and traffic management centers for safe and efficient movement.
  • Greenfield project: The road will be constructed on entirely new land, ensuring a smooth, jam-free route free from existing traffic bottlenecks.

Economic and Social Impact

Beyond reducing travel time, the Noida–Lucknow Greenfield Expressway is set to deliver massive economic benefits. The faster logistics network will help industries in Noida, Greater Noida, and Delhi-NCR transport goods to Lucknow and nearby markets at a lower cost, boosting trade efficiency.

Additionally, the expressway is expected to give a major push to tourism and industrial development. With improved road infrastructure, investors and businesses will find new opportunities in Uttar Pradesh’s expanding markets, while tourism in heritage-rich cities like Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Varanasi will also get a significant boost.

Uttar Pradesh’s Development Push

The project reflects the state government’s vision of transforming Uttar Pradesh into a hub of world-class infrastructure. With multiple expressways already under development, including the Purvanchal Expressway and Bundelkhand Expressway, this new corridor will further strengthen connectivity and create new opportunities for growth.
