Bollywood’s upcoming romantic comedy Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, is all set to hit cinemas this weekend. The advance booking for the Maddock Films production opened on August 26, and early numbers indicate a healthy start. With strong pre-sales and no major competition at the box office, the film is looking at a solid opening.
Param Sundari Advance Booking Numbers
As of August 27 night, Param Sundari had sold more than 12,000 tickets across national chains like PVR Inox and Cinepolis for its opening day. On top of that, nearly 10,000 tickets were booked through apps such as BookMyShow and District within the first 24 hours.
For a romantic comedy, which generally depends more on walk-ins and word of mouth than heavy pre-sales, these figures are a good start. Trade analysts expect the film’s advance booking to touch around 40,000 admissions before release. With no other big film releasing this weekend, the Sidharth-Janhvi starrer has a clear chance to draw in audiences.
What Box Office Experts Expect
Industry predictions suggest Param Sundari could open in the range of Rs 8–10 crore net on its first day. If it manages to cross the double-digit mark, it would count as a strong opening and one of the better starts for both lead actors.
Recent romantic dramas have done well at the box office, which could work in the film’s favour. Maddock Films, the studio behind recent hits like Stree 2 and Chhaava, will be hoping for another success if the audience responds positively.
About Param Sundari
Directed by Tushar Jalota, Param Sundari is set in the scenic backwaters of Kerala. The story follows Param Sachdev, a carefree boy from Delhi played by Sidharth Malhotra, and Sundari Damodaram Pillai, a graceful Kerala girl played by Janhvi Kapoor.
Their love story unfolds with humour, family drama, and cultural clashes. A key moment in the trailer shows Sundari accusing Param of “emotional manipulation,” hinting that the film will balance comedy with more serious emotions. With a runtime of 136 minutes, the movie promises colour, music, and heart.
The film’s title takes inspiration from the hit track “Param Sundari” from Mimi. Since its announcement, it has drawn comparisons to Chennai Express due to its North-meets-South storyline. Sidharth and Janhvi have said they find the comparison flattering but insist their film offers a fresh cultural take.
The promotions also made headlines when the actors visited the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. Their temple visit sparked debates online, but the film’s songs and trailer continue to trend, keeping the buzz alive.
