Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s Param Sundari released in cinemas on August 29. For a mid-budget rom-com, this is a fair start. But the comparison with Saiyaara makes it look small. YRF’s debutant-led love story collected a massive Rs 21.5 crore on its first day, nearly three times higher. The contrast is sharp because Saiyaara introduced newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, while Param Sundari stars known names like Sidharth and Janhvi. Trade experts had expected the film to cross at least double digits, but that target was missed.

About The Film
The story follows Param Sachdev (Sidharth Malhotra), a lively boy from Delhi who travels to Kerala to test a dating app named “Find Your Soulmate.” The app matches him with Sundari Damodar Pillai (Janhvi Kapoor), and Param begins his efforts to impress her. Language barriers, cultural clashes, and her protective uncle (Renji Panicker) make his journey tough.
The narrative builds through Onam celebrations, community games, and a key boat race sequence where Param proves his worth. The climax sees Sundari leaving behind her arranged match and choosing Param in a dramatic leap of love.
The supporting cast includes Sanjay Kapoor, Inayat Verma, Manjot Singh, Karamveer Choudhary, Aakash Dahiya, Rajeev Khandelwal, and Samir Nandan Thampi. With a runtime of 2 hours and 16 minutes, the film mixes romance, comedy, and cultural colour in a light-hearted style.
