Mohit Suri’s latest musical drama Saiyaara has taken the box office by storm. The film, featuring debutant Ahaan Panday alongside Aneet Padda, collected a massive Rs 20 crore on its opening day, as per early reports from industry tracker Sacnilk.

This figure exceeded all expectations and even broke the opening day record of Suri’s 2014 hit Ek Villain, which earned Rs 16 crore. Saiyaara is now the biggest opener of Mohit Suri’s career, surpassing his previous hits like Murder 2 (Rs 6.95 crore), Aashiqui 2 (Rs 6.10 crore), and Half Girlfriend (Rs 10.30 crore).

The film’s strong start has surprised trade experts and fans alike. Backed by Yash Raj Studios, this romantic drama has proved that fresh talent can make a big splash if the content clicks with audiences.

With this strong opening, Saiyaara has emerged as the fourth-biggest opener of 2025, behind Chhaava (Rs 31 crore), Sikandar (Rs 26 crore), and Housefull 5 (Rs 24 crore).

Ahaan Panday’s Big Debut

The success of Saiyaara marks a powerful debut for Ahaan Panday, cousin of Bollywood star Ananya Panday. Despite the buzz surrounding his star-kid background, few expected such a remarkable opening. Ahaan’s debut has outperformed other recent newcomers. For comparison, Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti earned Rs 6.55 crore on its first day in 2014, while Ananya Panday’s Student Of The Year 2 made Rs 12.06 crore on Day 1.

Aneet Padda, who has appeared in Big Girls Don’t Cry and Salaam Venky, is also being praised for her effortless screen presence. Their on-screen chemistry is proving to be a key factor in the film’s growing buzz.

Yash Raj Studios and Mohit Suri have delivered a winner with Saiyaara. The film’s opening day earnings are higher than recent big releases like Raid 2 (Rs 19.25 crore) starring Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 10.7 crore).

After largely positive reviews and strong word-of-mouth, the film is expected to maintain its momentum over the weekend. Trade analysts believe Saiyaara could become one of the biggest hits of 2025 if this trend continues. All eyes are now on its weekend box office numbers, which will determine how far this musical love story can go.
