Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy slams Indian channel for censorship on the show

Dan Levy, the star and co-creator of the beloved television series “Schitt’s Creek,” was not happy to find out that a channel in India had removed a gay kiss scene from the Emmy Award-winning show.

“You showed the kiss between two women, you showed the kiss between a woman and a man, then removed the kiss between two men? This is a show about the power of inclusivity. The censorship of gay intimacy is making a harmful statement against that message. #loveislove,” he wrote.

Levy had pointed out a snippet from the show that Comedy Central India had shared on Twitter in March 2019 when the show was being aired on the channel.

Last year, Comedy Central India had shared a three-minute-long clip on Twitter from one of the episodes of the show’s fifth season.

But apparently, a kissing scene between Levy’s character David and actor Dustin Milligan’s Ted had been edited from the clip.

Schitt’s Creek swept up all seven major comedy awards at the 2020 Emmys for its final season, with acting wins for all four lead stars.

The Canadian comedy series has been praised for its positive representation of LGBTQ+ communities.
