The 18-second clip shows the man spitting multiple times on a garlanded photo of his wife before throwing it in the Ganga river, triggering massive reactions online.
The video quickly went viral after social media users claimed the husband was upset with his wife’s alleged obsession with posting “sleazy reels” online.

Many people online called the video disturbing and offensive, especially because the incident allegedly took place at a sacred Ganga ghat. Saints and religious leaders said such actions go against the sanctity and traditions associated with Har Ki Pauri.

What Is Seen In The Viral Video?
The Haridwar viral video shows the man first holding a garlanded photograph of his wife and displaying it directly toward the camera. The person recording the video also zooms in on the photo.
In the most talked-about part of the clip, the man is allegedly seen spitting on the photograph five consecutive times. Social media users widely criticised the act and many questioned why bystanders did not intervene.
After this, the man immerses the photograph into the Ganga river. The video also shows him performing what appears to be a ritual similar to pind daan. He is seen holding an object resembling a pind before immersing it into the water.
Toward the end of the video, the man removes a white scarf from around his neck, waves it three times in the air and later throws it into the river as well. Several people standing nearby can also be seen recording the incident on their mobile phones.

Police Begin Investigation
As reported by Dainik Bhaskar, Har Ki Pauri police outpost officials confirmed that an investigation has already started. Police are currently trying to identify the man seen in the video and determine whether the clip is recent or old.
Officials also stated that the authenticity of the video and the exact location are still under verification. Further action will reportedly be taken after the investigation is completed.
